Buddha Stupa
Enshrining one eighth of the sacred ashes of Lord Buddha in a stone casket, the Buddha Stupa is one of the most important spots to visit in Vaishali. The religious spot has two Stupas (I and II) named according to their excavation.
Ashoka Pillar
Made by one the greatest followers of Lord Buddha, the Ashoka Pillar made out of single red sandstone has a height of 18.3 m and was made by Ashoka, the great. Adorned by a life-size figure of a lion at the top, the pillar is a unique example of Indian architecture.
Bawan Powar temple
Located on the banks of Bawan pond the ancient temple houses excellent images of Hindu gods and goddess.
Shanty Stupa
Also known as ‘Peace Pagoda’, the Stupa is 38 m high and has 20 m high dome which enshrines Buddhist relics. Meant for world peace and harmony the Stupa was made by a Japanese Buddhist and is spread across 10 acres.
Kutagarasala Vihara
It is the sacred place where Lord Buddha used to come and stay quite often while visiting Vaisali.
Archaeological Museum
The archaeological museum of Vaishali is a great place to visit as it reflects the rich cultural heritage of this city. Established in 1971, the museum displays a wide range terracotta items like human figurines, animal figures, plaque of Buddha, molded bricks tiles, images of Bodhisattva and figures of wheels, beads, rattles, dabbers and cast coins.
