Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves
Carved out for Jain monks and famous for the beautiful chisel work of women, elephants, athletes, and geese carrying flowers, the caves are located on two hills. Made during the reigns of King Kharavel the caves are divided in a group of 18 and 15 caves respectively.
Lingaraja Temple
Dedicated to Lord Shiva the temple is around thousands of years old. Famous for the heavy architecture of Kalinga times and spacious compound the temple is divided into four parts and houses the idols of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The temple is the oldest and largest temple in Bhubneswar.
Dhuali
Believed to be the battle land of Kanliga war, Dhuali is located on the banks of the river Daya. Dhuali hills are famous for the Shanti Stupa, a pilgrimage for Buddhists. With peace and beauty the hills also offer picturesque sight of several chaityas, stupas and pillars made by the emperor Ashoka the great.
Rajarani Temple
Build with red gold sandstones known as Rajrani, the temple is famous for its elegant and dynamically animated sculptures and cravings on walls and pillars. The temple is devoid of any deity and hence no puja is offered inside. The temple is ornamented with beautiful gardens, heavy interiors and marvelous inscriptions.
Nandankanan Zoo
Also known as ‘Garden of Gods’, the zoo is in the midst of green forest spotting rare nilgiri langur, Sangal Lion, variety of birds, and mammals. The zoo is composed of a botanical Garden, a sanctuary and a shore of picturesque Kanjia lake. With various adventures like safaris and boating, Nandankanan zoo is a perfect place for a perfect day out.
