Aptly known as the valley of flowers, Nubra Valley is a fascinating tourist destination located near the Khardunga La pass (highest motorable pass in the world) in the north of Leh in Kashmir. One has to cross this Pass to reach Nubra. The views of this valley are mind-blowing. Fruits like apples, apricots, oranges and berries are cultivated here. Major attractions of Nubra Valley
Diskit Village
It is well known for the Diskit Gompa, the largest and the oldest monastery of the valley dating back to 350 years. It is surrounded by apricot orchids. You can also enjoy a ride on a double humped camel in this village.
Hot water sulphur spring
Located in the village of Panamik close to Siachen glacier, this sulphur spring is believed to have healing properties. The spring water contains high levels of sulphur which is best for curing rheumatism and other ailments. Panamik is the last civilian settlement before Siachen camp (where no civilians are allowed).
Samstanling Gompa
This monastery is known for its amazing collection of idols, frescoes and tangkhas (painted and embroidered scrolls). It is located in Sumur village.
