Come participate in the beautiful festival of Durga Puja and get soaked in its colours and devotional fervor. Dedicated to the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura, the festival represents the victory of good over evil. However is celebrated in different states of the country in the month of October or November but it is majorly a festival of West Bengal.
During Durga Puja huge and mesmerizing pandals with beautiful idols of the goddess are set up and various cultural traditions and activities are performed. People perform pujas, worship the goddess, enjoy a portion of bhog, feast on culinary delights at the food stalls in the pandals and dance away to glory. The culmination of the nine day celebrations is Dussehra which is marked with burning the effigy of the demon king Ravana and his two brothers, depicting the victory of Lord Rama over him and the end of evil. Preceeding Dussehra, Ram Leela (enactments of Ramayana) is also performed. Mysore Dusshera is famous for its grandeur.
